How to use the Dynamic Lock screen on Galaxy Note 10?

By Simon 2 Comments · First published on: October 17, 2019 · Last Modified on: October 17, 2019

use the Dynamic Lock screen on Galaxy Note 10The Dynamic Lock screen can automatically change Galaxy Note 10 lock screen’s wallpaper. You will always see a new wallpaper when you wake up the Galaxy Note 10 screen.

Although we did not list it as one of the top 10 new features of Galaxy Note 10, many owners found this feature is quite interesting.

This Galaxy Note 10 guide explains the details (and limitations) of the dynamic lock screen on Samsung Galaxy Note 10, how to enable, use, and customize the dynamic lock screen.

With the September 2019 update for Galaxy S10, this feature is also available on Galaxy S10, S10+, and S10e now.

What is the Dynamic Lock screen on Galaxy Note 10?

By default, the wallpaper on Samsung Galaxy Note 10 does not change (static).  This means you will see the same picture again and again when you wake up the screen.

The Dynamic lock screen, introduced with Galaxy Note 10 (and Note 10+ of course), uses a pack of pictures as the lock screen wallpaper.

The phone will rotate them randomly so that you will very likely see a different lock screen when you wake up the screen.

All pictures/photos in the “pack” (category) are provided by Samsung. You need to download them to your phone before you can use them.

Samsung promised to update the packs every two weeks, and therefore, you will always get a “fresh” look of your Galaxy Note 10 lock screen.

In a nutshell, the dynamic lock screen means a new lock screen wallpaper when you wake up the screen.

How to enable the Dynamic Lock screen?

By default, this feature is not enabled. And the lock screen wallpaper on Galaxy Note 10 is static. You need to enable it manually if you want to make it dynamic (and fresh).

There are a couple of ways to enable the Dynamic lock screen on Samsung Galaxy phones.

Method 1: Settings — Wallpapers and themes

The first method to enable the dynamic lock screen feature on Galaxy Note 10 is from the wallpaper and theme settings.

As shown in the screenshot …

Galaxy Note 10 LED View Cover Guide and Review

By Simon 20 Comments · First published on: October 4, 2019 · Last Modified on: October 7, 2019

Galaxy Note 10 LED View caseGalaxy Note 10 LED View Cover is one of the unique accessories for Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Note 10+.

This Galaxy Note 10 accessories guide explains the unique features of the Galaxy Note 10 LED Wallet (View) cover, shows you how to use the LED case and customize the LED icons on the cover, answers the questions you may have on the LED View Cover.  A quick review of the Galaxy Note 10 LED View case explains the pros and cons of the cover.

Although the dimensions of the LED Wallet Case for Samsung Galaxy Note 10 and for Galaxy Note 10+ are different, all features are identical on all Galaxy Note 10 devices. This guide applies to both Galaxy Note 10 and Note 10+.

Unique features of Galaxy Note 10 LED View cover?

Galaxy Note 10 LED View Cover (aka LED wallet cover in some regions) is one of the “official” accessories of Galaxy Note 1o and Note 10+.  It is a typical two-piece flip cover.

The series of the LED case was first released with Galaxy S7. Samsung refined the features in the last few years.

The unique features of the Galaxy Note 10 LED Wallet cover include:

LED notification icons

Showing LED notification icons on an external case is one of the most significant selling points of the Galaxy Note 10 LED Wallet cover among the over-crowded flip covers.

When someone calls you or some apps get notifications, you will see the corresponding LED icons on the front part of the LED cover.

Samsung allows you to customize the icons for any individual contact (or contact group) and different apps so that you can immediately know whether the call/message/notification is important or not by looking at the icon without opening the cover.

Interact with the phone without opening the cover

Another unique feature of the LED wallet cover is that you can interact with the phone from the cover (without opening it).

For phone calls, you can accept or reject a call by swiping to the left or right on the LED cover.

You can …

Install S Note app and Extension pack on Galaxy Note 10

By Simon 13 Comments · First published on: September 27, 2019 · Last Modified on: September 27, 2019

S Note appYou can install S Note app and the Extension pack on Galaxy Note 10 and Note 10+ to fully utilize the S  Pen.

Although Samsung favors the Samsung Notes app, S Note app has a few clear advantages, especially for those who need to take notes in meeting rooms or lecture theaters.

This S Note guide explains the features of S Note app, the difference between the S Note app and Samsung Notes app, and shows you how to install S Note app and the extension pack on Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Note 10+.

This guide also applies to Galaxy Note 8 and Galaxy Note 9.  Older Galaxy Note devices have more options in the extension pack.

What’s S Note app?

An outstanding phone requires both the top-notch hardware and some flagship apps.

S Note was the flagship app on Galaxy Note devices. It demonstrates the productivity that S Pen can bring on a relatively large screen.

After the Marshmallow update for Galaxy Note 5, Samsung shifted focus to the general-purpose Samsung Notes app and stopped the active development of S Note app.

But Samsung has NOT abandoned the S Note app, although it has not been pre-installed since Galaxy Note 8. So, you cannot find the S Note app on Galaxy Note 8, 9, and 10.

Basically, S Note is a note-taking app.  But it is a very unique note-taking app.

The noteworthy features of the S Note app include:

  1. It supports multimedia files.  You can embed pictures, audios, and videos into the note.
  2. It supports paginations. You can organize one note into various pages.
  3. It supports collections. You can organize notes into collections (like books, or book chapters).
  4. It supports rich text. You can format the text like in Microsoft Word.
  5. It supports tags.
  6. It has a built-in illustration art library. You can insert any of the illustrations (and shapes) into a note.
  7. It supports S Pen.
  8. It supports pressure levels with S Pen.
  9. It supports shape recognition (and conversion). The S Note app can convert your dawing
  10. It supports

How to Use Galaxy Note 10 Camera App?

By Simon 4 Comments · First published on: September 12, 2019 · Last Modified on: September 14, 2019

Galaxy Note 10 camera guideSamsung Galaxy Note 10 camera is one of the key selling points of Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Note 10+.

This Galaxy Note 10 guide explains how to use camera quick launch, the components and their meaning/usage of the camera app, and supported gestures in Galaxy Note 10 camera app.

Except for the depth camera, which is not discussed in this guide, Samsung Galaxy Note 10 and Note 10 Plus share identical camera components. So, this guide applies to both Galaxy Note 10 and Note 10+.

How to use Galaxy Note 10 camera quick launch?

By default, on Galaxy Note 10, you can quickly press the Side key (see Galaxy Note 10 layout) twice to launch the camera. This is referred to as Galaxy Note 10 camera quick launch.

Of course, you can customize the side key to remap the double press gesture to other apps, as explained in this guide.

Anyway, in addition to tapping the camera app icon, or using voice commands (Bixby or Google Assistant), you can also use the Galaxy Note 10 camera quick launch to open the camera app.

As explained in this guide, you can remap the Side key for other apps, or use other Side key gestures for camera quick launch.

Understand the components of Galaxy Note 10 Camera App interface?

In recent years, Samsung tried to keep the Camera app consistent through their Android phones.

So, if you just migrate from Samsung Galaxy Note 9, or Galaxy S10, you will find the camera app interface is very familiar.

As shown in the screenshot below, typically, there are 10-15 components (depending on what you are using) in the camera app interface.

#1. the shutter button

You can tap the shutter button to take photos, just like in any other camera apps.

If you hold the shutter button, by default, the burst mode will be activated. You can deactivate the burst mode by assigning the long tap gesture of the shutter button:

  • To take one picture (same as tapping the shutter button once).
  • To create GIF animations.

Of course, inmost Samsung …

Galaxy Note 10 SIM Card Guide

Everything you need to know about using SIM cards on Samsung Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Note 10+

By Simon 18 Comments · First published on: September 10, 2019 · Last Modified on: September 10, 2019

Galaxy Note 10 SIM card trayYou need to add a SIM card to Galaxy Note 10 (and Note 10+) if you want to use any mobile services.

But do you know how to add or replace the Galaxy Note 10 SIM card? Do you know your Galaxy Note 10 is single SIM version of dual-SIm version? Do you know how to use the SIM card tray and use two SIM cards on the phone?

This Galaxy Note 10 guide explains everything you need to know about using SIM cards on Galaxy Note 10: the sim card size, dual-SIM vs single-SIM, adding/replacing SIM cards, using the SIM card tray, managing and customizing  SIM cards, and using two SIM cards. It also answers some questions you may have about using SIM card on Samsung Galaxy Note and Galaxy Note 10+.

What’s the SIM card size for Galaxy Note 10?

Both Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Note 10 requires nano-SIM (the smallest one).

Traditionally, SIM card comes with 4 types of size (form factor):

  1. Full-size SIM. There are no smartphones using it.
  2. Mini-SIM. You can only find it in vintage phones.
  3. Micro-SIM. The popular SIM card 3-4 years ago.
  4. Nano-SIM. The mainstream SIM card.

The relative size of these 4 SIM card sizes is illustrated in the picture below.

Most phone companies offer 3-in-1 SIM cards. What you need is the smallest one.

You can detach the nano-SIM (the smallest part) and use it on Galaxy Note 10, as shown below.

Please note, you should not throw away the remaining plastic part.  You can use it as a SIM card adapter for old devices that may require a micro-SIM or even mini-SIM card.

If you are using one of the following popular phones, you can use the existing SIM card on Galaxy Note 10:

  • Samsung Galaxy Note 5,  Note 7 FE, Note 8, and Note 9.
  • Samsung Galaxy S6, S7, S8, S9, S10 and all their variants (e.g., S10, S10+, S10e, S9, S9+, S8,  S8+, S7, S7 Edge, S6, S6 Edge, and S6 Edge+).
  • Any of Samsung Galaxy A series: Galaxy A3, A5, A7,

How to use Samsung DeX for PC with Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Note 10+?

By Simon 4 Comments · First published on: September 6, 2019 · Last Modified on: September 8, 2019

Samsung DeX for PCSamsung DeX for PC allows you to use Galaxy Note 10 in the DeX mode (extended/desktop mode) on your PC or laptop without any dongles or accessories.

This is one of the most useful new features of Galaxy Note 10.

This Galaxy Note 10 guide explains the setup and requirements of Samsung DeX and shows you how to use the DeX for PC with Galaxy Note 10. Some caveats of using Samsung DeX were also explained.

What is the difference between DeX for PC and Samsung DeX?

Samsung DeX is the desktop mode of the supported Android phones (mainly Samsung Galaxy S and Note series) and a few Galaxy Tab S tablets.

With an external dongle (Samsung DeX Station, DeX Pad, or DeX cable), you can use the phone or tablet in the desktop mode on an external monitor with a mouse and keyboard. You can use the phone on the phone screen simultaneously, or use the phone screen as a touchpad.

Samsung introduced Samsung DeX with Galaxy S8. Galaxy Note 8, Note 9, S9, S10, and now Galaxy Note 10, all support Samsung DeX.

Prior to Galaxy Note 10, you need an adapter to run Samsung DeX. The following table summarizes the compatibility of DeX accessories with the supported Samsung phones.

Although DeX for PC is just a special mode of Samsung DeX, the difference between Samsung DeX and DeX for PC is obvious:

  • Samsung DeX works on a monitor (or TV). DeX for PC works on a PC or laptop.
  • Samsung DeX requires a mouse (keyboard is optional). You can use the phone screen as a touchpad (requires Android Oreo or later Android). DeX for PC uses your PC/laptop’s keyboard and mouse.
  • DeX for PC allows you to drag and drop to share files between the phone and the PC.
  • DeX for PC only requires a USB cable. Both USB-C cable and USB-A to USB-C cable are supported.
  • DeX for PC only works with Galaxy Note 10  and Galaxy Note+ (and Tab S6 for tablet). While Samsung DeX works with more devices.

How to use Galaxy Note 10 Clear View cover (S View cover)?

Everything about Galaxy Note 10 clear view cover (S View cover) for Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Note 10+

By Simon 35 Comments · First published on: September 4, 2019 · Last Modified on: September 14, 2019

Galaxy Note 10 Clear View cover (S -View cover) allows you to answer calls, control music playing, and check notifications on Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Note 10+ without opening the cover.

The new S View window makes the cover substantially different from previous generations of clear view (S View) covers.

This Galaxy Note 10 guide explains how to change the text orientation in the new S View window and how to use the always-on display (AOD) with Galaxy Note 10 clear view cover. A quick review of the clear view (S View) cover is also included.

A short-history of Samsung’s clear view cover and S View cover

S View cover was first introduced with Galaxy S4. Galaxy Note 3 is the first Note device with an official S-View Cover.

The S View cover is featured by a translucent “window” on the front cover. Some cool and fancy features were tried, polished, and abandoned by Samsung from Galaxy S4 to Galaxy S7 (and Galaxy Note 3, Note 4 and Note 5).

Since Galaxy S6 (and Galaxy Note 5), a new clear view flip cover was introduced together with the S-View cover.

From Galaxy S8 and Galaxy Note 8, S View cover was merged with the clear view cover. Some S View features were ported to the clear view cover. This is the reason why in some markets, the clear view cover is often referred to as S View cover. At the same time, the S View camera was removed in all clear view covers. This means you cannot access the camera when the clear view cover is closed.

What’s new in Galaxy Note 10 clear view cover (S View cover)?

All previous clear view covers (e.g., Galaxy S10 clear view cover) have a translucent front. The whole front cover is one-piece.

The clear view cover for Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Note 10+ uses a two-piece front cover as shown below.

The majority of the front cover is fabric-like and opaque (marked as 2, as shown below). The material of this part is actually similar to that in …

How to charge Galaxy Note 10 battery?

By Simon 1 Comment · First published on: August 29, 2019 · Last Modified on: March 1, 2020

Fully chargedYou need to charge Galaxy Note 10 before you can use it. Everybody knows it. But do you know how to charge Galaxy Note 10 battery properly?

If you are new to wireless charging or fast charging (quick charge), you may get confused on the charging options for Galaxy Note 10.

This Galaxy Note 10 guide starts with steps of charging Galaxy Note 10 battery with USB cable charging and wireless charging. Then it explains how to choose a proper wall charger and wireless charger for Galaxy Note 10. The typical charging time for Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Note 10+ was also discussed. Finally, some questions you may have on charging Galaxy Note 10 are answered.

As explained in this post, there are some differences, including battery capacity and Super Fast charging, between Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Note 10+. So, in this post, sometimes Galaxy Note 10 or Note 10+ is singled out. In other cases, Galaxy Note 10 refers to both Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Note 10+.

Two charging modes for Galaxy Note 10 battery

Since Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy Note devices support wireless charging natively (without using any mods).

So, for Galaxy Note 10, there are two charging modes (methods):

  1. USB cable charging. Galaxy Note 10 battery can be charged through the USB-C port (see Galaxy Note 10 layout).
  2. Wireless charging. You can put Galaxy Note 10 or Note 10+ on a Qi-certified wireless charging pad to charge the battery.

You should not confuse the wireless charging with the new Galaxy Note 10 feature of wireless PowerShare. Please refer to this guide on how to use wireless PowerShare to share Galaxy Note 10 battery with other devices.

Charge Galaxy Note 10 battery with USB cable charging

You may follow these steps to charge Galaxy Note 10 with USB cable charging.

Step 1: Connect the USB-C cable to Galaxy Note 10

As shown in the animation below, you can insert the USB cable connector into the USB-C (multip-purpose) port in the bottom of Galaxy Note 10.

In the Galaxy Note …

How to use and remap Galaxy Note 10 Side key?

The new side key on Galaxy Note 10 is a combination of Power key and Bixby key.

By Simon Leave a Comment · First published on: August 24, 2019 · Last Modified on: September 14, 2019

Galaxy Note 10 physical keys On Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Note 10+, Samsung replaced the unpopular Bixby key with the Galaxy Note 10 Side key, which is mainly a Power key as in old Galaxy Note devices (but on the opposite side).

So, many Galaxy Note 10 owners are a bit confused about the new Side key. It is in the location of the Bixby key, but it functions mainly as the Power key (with some differences).

This Galaxy Note 10 guide explains the functions and usage of the Side key and shows you how to customize (remap) the Side key on Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Note 10+. Questions on how to power on, power off, and reboot Galaxy Note 10, as well as Galaxy Note 10 recovery mode and the safe mode, are also covered.

Although Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Note 10+ differs as explained in this post, the Side key on both phones are identical.

Where is the Power button on Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy  Note 10+?

Samsung used to place the Power key (Power button) on the right side of the phone.

But as illustrated in the Galaxy Note 10 layout, there is no button on the right side of Galaxy Note 10 and Note 10+.

Samsung actually moved the Power key to the left side and replaced the unpopular Bixby key. And they named it the Side key. This is one of the new features of Galaxy Note 10.

Of course, Samsung did not give up Bixby. They added one Bixby feature into the new Side key. For Bixby-haters, you can remove this Bixby feature (read on) and restore the Side key as the traditional Power key.

Functions of Galaxy Note 10 Side key

As mentioned, the Side key is a combination of the Power key and the Bixby key.

Galaxy Note 10 Layout

The layout of Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Note 10+

By Simon Leave a Comment · First published on: August 22, 2019 · Last Modified on: September 14, 2019

Galaxy Note 10 LayoutYou need to know Galaxy Note 10 layout if you want to use Galaxy Note 10 or Galaxy Note 10+ effectively.

With some new features of Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Note 10+,  like zoom-in microphone, in-display fingerprint reader, the new Side key (power button),  even a seasoned Galaxy Note owner may get a bit confused on some parts of the Galaxy Note 10.

This Galaxy Note 10 guide details the layout of both Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Note 10+. All parts, ports, and buttons (keys) and their usage are explained as well.

Although the size of Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Note 10+ are substantially different, the layout of the two phones is almost identical except one missing rear camera on Galaxy Note 10. So, in this post, after highlighting this difference, we will not differ Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Note 10+.

What are the differences between the layout of Galaxy Note 10 and the layout of Galaxy Note 10+

As explained in this guide, there are some differences between Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Note 10+. For example, Galaxy Note 10 is smaller. There is no micro SD card support on Galaxy Note 10. The screen resolution of Galaxy Note 10 is only up to 1080p.

But if you check the outside of the two phones, you may notice the main difference (actually the only difference except the dimensions and weight) is the rear camera module.

As shown below, Galaxy Note 10 has one additional camera. Samsung labeled it as DepthVision camera, which includes a camera lens and an infrared sensor.

Galaxy Note 10 layout explained

As shown in the illustration below, from the front view of Galaxy Note 10, you can find:

1. Touch screen

More than 90% of the front of t Galaxy Note 10 is occupied by the dynamic OLED screen.

Please note, in most regions, a plastic screen protector was pasted on the screen because most tempered glass screen protectors do NOT work with the in-display fingerprint sensor.

2. Edge screen on Galaxy Note 10 layout

Edge screen is NOT …

Where is the Galaxy Note 10 zoom-in mic?

The location of the zoom-in mic on Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Note 10+

By Simon Leave a Comment · First published on: August 20, 2019 · Last Modified on: March 2, 2020

Many Galaxy Note 10 and Note 10+ owners are confused on the location of the zoom-in mic on the phone. Some owners mistakenly thought the top speaker as the zoom-in microphone.

This post shows you the exact location of the zoom-in mic on Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Note 10+.

As explained in the top 10 new features of Galaxy Note 10, the zoom-in mic is one of the most interesting features you should try.

Zoom-in mic is not an invention of Samsung. HTC adopted a similar Sonic zoom in HTC U12+ in 2018. LG has implemented the similar feature of  “audio zoom”  since LG G2 in 2013.

But Galaxy Note 10 is the first Samsung phone with such a microphone.

Please note, although there are some differences between Galaxy Note 1o and Galaxy Note 10+, the zoom-in mic feature is identical on both phones. The location of the zoom-in mic on Galaxy Note 10 and Note 10+ are also identical.

So, where is the zoom-in mic on Galaxy Note 10?

Do not confuse the top speaker with the zoom-in mic

Some reviewers pointed the finger to the top speaker vent hole as shown below. They thought this is the new zoom-in microphone.

But it is totally wrong!

As explained in the Galaxy Note 10 layout, the big hole in the top of Galaxy Note 10 is actually the vent of the second speaker.

Right to the top speaker, there is a microphone.

But this is a normal microphone, which is usually used for noise canceling when you are engaged in a call.  When you using the voice recorder in the interview mode, this microphone will focus on the interviewee.

Left to the speaker, it is the normal SIM card tray.

Galaxy Note 10 top speaker

Of course, on the bottom, there is another speaker. But this one is similar to the top one.

So, where does Samsung hide the zoom-in mic on Galaxy Note 10?

It turns out the zoom-in mic on Galaxy Note 10 (and …

Galaxy Note 10 vs Galaxy Note 10+: what are the differences?

By Simon 2 Comments · First published on: August 13, 2019 · Last Modified on: October 17, 2019

Galaxy Note 10 vs Galaxy Note 10+: what are the differences? When you decide to buy a Galaxy Note 10 phone, you need to know there are two models of Galaxy Note 10. So, what are the major differences for Galaxy Note 10 vs Galaxy Note 10+?

This post details the major differences between Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Note 10+ to help you make the correct decision when purchasing a Galaxy Note 10.

The top 10 new features of Galaxy Note 10 were summarized in this post. The top 10 missing features of Galaxy Note 10 can be found in this post.

Galaxy Note 10 vs Galaxy Note 10+: they are for a different audience

If you are an owner of Galaxy Note phone, you need to know Galaxy Note 10+ is the successor for Galaxy Note 9.  If you want to upgrade, you should choose Galaxy Note 10+, not Galaxy Note 10. You may check the missing features of Galaxy Note 10 (and Note 10+) before upgrading.

Galaxy Note 1o is a “lite” version of Galaxy Note 10+. It is not designed for existing Galaxy Note device owners. Instead, Samsung probably intended to use Galaxy Note 10 to attract new “S Pen” users who are currently using other middle-range Android phones.

Please note  Galaxy Note 10+ is NOT exceptionally larger compared to many other mainstream phones.  The curved the screen, thin bezel, and the 19:9 aspect ratio makes its physical dimensions just similar to other flagship phones.

Anyway, do not assume Galaxy Note 10 is large. Samsung actually reduced the width of the phone over the years. Both Galaxy Note 10 and Note 10+ are NOT very large.

Please note, in the Galaxy Note 10 box, there are no differences except the phone.

Galaxy Note 10 vs Galaxy Note 10+: Screen size and resolution

Both Galaxy Note 10 and 10+ use the top-tier OLED screen, which no other Android manufacturers can match.

Galaxy Note 10 has a 6.3″ screen with a resolution of 1080 x 2280 (1080p).

While Galaxy Note 10+ has a larger screen of 6.8″ with a resolution of 1440 x 3040 (1440p).…

Top 10 new features of Galaxy Note 10 and Note 10+ you should try

By Simon Leave a Comment · First published on: August 11, 2019 · Last Modified on: March 1, 2020

Top 10 new features of Galaxy Note 10 and Note 10+Although Galaxy Note 10 received a mixed reception, there are many new features of Galaxy Note 10 and Note 10+ you may enjoy.

In this post, I will summarize the top 10 new features of Galaxy Note 10 and Note 10+, which are quite impressive and exciting. They include Samsung DeX for PC, updated video editor, native screen recorder, the new S Pen, 25w/45W Superfast charging, 3D scanner (Galaxy Note 10+ only, not released yet), wireless Powershare, AR doodle, zoom-in mic, and the night camera mode.

The missing features of Galaxy Note 10 can be found here. An overview review of Galaxy Note 10 and Note 10+ was posted here.

In this guide, Galaxy Note 10 refers to both Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Note 10+ unless the special features are on Galaxy Note 10+ only. If this is the case, we will use Note 10+ explicitly. The differences between Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Note 10+ are discussed in this post.

#1. Samsung DeX for PC: the best new feature of Galaxy Note 10

Samsung DeX, which was introduced in Galaxy S8 and later available on Galaxy Note 8, Note 9, S9,  S10, and now Note 10,  is probably the most useful innovation bringing Android to a bigger screen, It transforms your phone into an Android desktop when connected to a large screen.

For Galaxy S8 and Note 8, you need to use the DeX station to connect the phone to the external monitor.  The slimmer DeX Pad was introduced with Galaxy S9 and can be used on Galaxy S8 and Note 8 as well. Galaxy Note 9 introduced the DeX cable, and you only need a USB-C to HDMI cable to use DeX with Note 9. This feature was ported to Galaxy S9 after the Android Pie update.  Currently,  Galaxy Note 9,  Galaxy Note 8, Galaxy S9, and Galaxy S10 can use any of them (DeX cable, Dex Station, or DeX Pad) to switch to the DeX mode. Galaxy S8 still needs a DeX Station or a DeX Pad to launch Samsung …
