Galaxy Note 5 developer options offer some advanced controls to debug apps for developers.

These developer options can offer some simulated situations, for example, low memory. The app developer can test how the app performs under such situations.

So, for most users, you do not need anything in Galaxy Note 5 developer options.

Galaxy Note 5 developer options will NOT make your Galaxy Note 5 run faster.  They will not help you save battery either.

On the contrary,  some Galaxy Note 5 developer options will significantly slow down Galaxy Note 5, drain more battery.

If you have performance issues in Galaxy Note 5, you need find the root cause of the problem. Fiddling the developer options may make it worse.

Warning! Do not change anything in Galaxy Note 5 developer options unless you fully understand what you are doing.

Where are my Galaxy Note 5 developer options?

Since Android Jelly Bean, developer options is hidden by default.

This means by default, you cannot find developer options in the UI. This is to avoid accidental use by some owners.

Of course, they are just hidden, not disabled.  You can unhide developer options easily.

Galaxy Note 5 developer options are not an exception.  You can unhide the Galaxy Note 5 developer options, then access individual features.

To unhide Galaxy Note 5 developer options, you can follow these steps.

Step 1: Go to Settings—About  device –-Software info as shown below.

Step 2: Keep tapping Build number field 7 times as shown below.

After tapping 3 times, you will notice a notification

“you are now 4 steps away from being a developer.”

Tapping the field again the counter will change to 3.

Eventually,  the notification will become:

Developer mode has been turned on

as shown below.

Step 3: Check Settings- Developer options.

So, it is a good idea to hide Galaxy Note 5 developer options when you hand the phone to your kids.

Of course, if you reset your Galaxy Note 5,  Galaxy Note 5 developer options will be hidden just as that before you unhide the options.

You can also hide Galaxy Note 5 developer options without resetting Galaxy Note 5.

To hide Galaxy Note 5 developer options, please follow these steps.

Step 1: Go to Settings–Applications–Application manager (as shown below in screenshot).

Step 2: Switch to All tab and find Settings (as shown below in screenshot).

Step 3: Tap Settings.

Step 4: Tap clear cache (as shown below in screenshot).

Step 5: tap Clear data (as shown below in screenshot).

You need tap Clear as shown below to proceed to clear the data.

The warning message is a bit scary:

All of this application’s data will be deleted permanently. This includes all files, settings, accounts, databases etc.

It actually will not remove your accounts or user files. But it may affect some settings. Please read on.

Step 6: Check Settings  page.

The Galaxy Note 5 developer options should be hidden now.

You can unhide it again if you want.

Side effects of clearing Settings data to hide Galaxy Note 5 developer options

Although clearing data for Settings will NOT delete any of your accounts or user files as mentioned, some settings  may be messed up.

So, after clearing data for Settings to hide developer options, some accessibility settings may be turned on even the Settings page shows it is not turned on.

If this happens to you, you can simply turns on the setting, then turn it off.

The most common problem is for Settings–Accessibility–Hearing –Auto haptic.

If you listen music through headset without problems, but the phone still vibrates (but no sound to the loud speaker) with the music, you can turn on the setting, then turn it off.

I can’t seem to turn back on my developer Options since the first time. I tried to hide the developer otions by clearing the cache in settings, but now when I try tapping on the Build Number 7 times, but there is no messages telling me that “You are a developer now” I tried resetting the phone, and restarting, didn’t work.
