I would like to remove small Gallery view box that shows up on upper left corner when I am using Samsung Note 3 camera. How do I do it?
Simon says
No, you cannot remove it because it’s part of the UI of Samsung camera app. You have to use third-party camera apps if you really hate it.

I’d love to know how the flipping fuck you just move one picture from one folder to another folder WITH OUT making a new folder. As far as I can tell it’s the only time you get the option to move or copy images in Galleries. Otherwise I can only select items and either delete it, share it or email it. No copy options or anything. Surely a device that can trim and edit videos can sort folders. This is driving me nuts.
Kathy says
I AGREE! Why can’t I just drag and drop pics from one folder to another? Extremely frustrating. No reply since June regarding this. I’m ready to trash this thing!
Rick says
What Android version are you using and on what devise??
Though the specific key/touch sequence will vary based on the above, but in general:
A. Select the folder where the photo(s) are located (camera, download, or a folder you have created and populated with photos);
B. touch the vertually button to the left of the real center button (at least on my Note 3/Android 5.0) and you will get a long menu of options;
C. touch “select items” option;
D. select the photos to be copied or moved;
E. touch that virtual button again and select the copy or move option;
F. a list of existing folders will appear;
G. select the destination folder and hit OK.
DONE.
OR!
At step E., touch and hold the touch till all the selected photos are shaded AND WITHOUT LIFTING THE TOUCH, drag the to the desired folder which should be listed on the left of the screen. DONE.
Of course this this assumes you have pre-created the folders you want to use. If not, of course you will have to create them on the fly.
Andre says
Go to Gallery, select the folder where you want to move photos. Press and hold to select the first one. Then select all the photos you want to move. Select Menu, bottom left, select Move. Select the folder you want to move the photos or select create new folder. Hope this helps.

How can photo albums stay intact when adding photos to messages or emails? When I try to add a photo to an instant message I have to scroll through all of the photos and nothing comes up in albums.
Simon says
Album is only available in Gallery app. When you insert photos in messages app, it just open all photos for you to select.
You can open the album in Gallery app, find the photo, them share it through messages.

How can I change the sort/view order of items in a gallery folder. I want one particular image to show first as an easy means of knowing which folder to open.
Usually the last downloaded image shows first…but not in one folder. How do I mange to arrange images in a folder?
Simon says
You probably need third party apps for this.

I can’t access my folders when posting pictures on twitter/Facebook etc…My pictures just all come up in one unorganized mess. Makes things very difficult to find. Any way to fix this in the settings?
Simon says
This is due to the app coding. You have no options to change the app behavior.

I also faced the same scenario as hstew here…who said, “When I am on an album I can swipe left and a long narrow folder shows up, however when I swiped right the folder went away but now my album on has two rows of photos instead of three and I prefer it the other way. I can’t see to figure out how to get it to the former layout within the album; and it did this to all my albums.”
Please reply.
Fahim says
to hstew…
Finally, I found the fix after no one seemed to care for a reply!! You need to just swipe your finger from left-right-left over the top right image that is displayed on your screen. Voila, back to factory view.
Thanks…

Hi!
I’m having a bit of a problem with my galaxy note 3. For some of the recent photos that I have downloaded onto my phone, I can view them find on gallery but as soon as I try to set it as a background, a “unsupported file” blurb comes up. I can still see the picture, I can delete it if I want to. I checked the details of the photo and its nothing different from my other photos, its still “.jpeg”. Every new photo I save is an “unsupported file,” could you help me out? Thank you!
Simon says

Hi, do you know how to update the default Gallery app?
Any idea if Samsung S4 can input text on an images when viewing the image inside the default Gallery app?
Simon says
The gallery app is part of the firmware. So, you will get update only from firmware update.
However, you can use many photo editing apps that allow write text over the photo. You can try photos that comes with Google+.

Hi, in my experience, if I drag a file to another location (like a microsd card), the original of the file is erased. How can I create a copy in another location while leaving the original intact, in its original location?
thanks!
Simon says
I think it’s due to the settings on your pc. Because, note 3 is treated as a removable storage, the system probably always “move” the dragged item, instead of making a copy.
You can always right click and use copy and paste. You can also use ctrl+c to copy and ctrl+v to paste.

How to view images in full screen? While viewing in landscape mode, picture appears full screen but it’s not complete screen (covers only 80% of screen). The pictures are full hd(1080 pi) but still won’t appear full screen.
Simon says
if the aspect ratio of the photo is 16:9, is should use all screen area.
very likely, the ratio of the photo is not 16:9, so only height is fully used in landscape mode.

You can use the My Files app to manage files. It should be pre-installed (under Samsung folder in the app drawer).
If you want to copy files to your local network drive, you can try some third party file managers, for example, es file explorer
