Although we did not list it as one of the top 10 new features of Galaxy Note 10, many owners found this feature is quite interesting.
This Galaxy Note 10 guide explains the details (and limitations) of the dynamic lock screen on Samsung Galaxy Note 10, how to enable, use, and customize the dynamic lock screen.
With the September 2019 update for Galaxy S10, this feature is also available on Galaxy S10, S10+, and S10e now.
By default, the wallpaper on Samsung Galaxy Note 10 does not change (static). This means you will see the same picture again and again when you wake up the screen.
The Dynamic lock screen, introduced with Galaxy Note 10 (and Note 10+ of course), uses a pack of pictures as the lock screen wallpaper.
The phone will rotate them randomly so that you will very likely see a different lock screen when you wake up the screen.
All pictures/photos in the “pack” (category) are provided by Samsung. You need to download them to your phone before you can use them.
Samsung promised to update the packs every two weeks, and therefore, you will always get a “fresh” look of your Galaxy Note 10 lock screen.
In a nutshell, the dynamic lock screen means a new lock screen wallpaper when you wake up the screen.
By default, this feature is not enabled. And the lock screen wallpaper on Galaxy Note 10 is static. You need to enable it manually if you want to make it dynamic (and fresh).
There are a couple of ways to enable the Dynamic lock screen on Samsung Galaxy phones.
The first method to enable the dynamic lock screen feature on Galaxy Note 10 is from the wallpaper and theme settings.
As shown in the screenshot below, in the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Settings page, tap Wallpapers and themes (marked as 1).
This would take you to the Galaxy themes, as shown above.
You can tap the Dynamic lock screen to enable and use this feature.
On the Galaxy Note 10 Settings page, you can also tap the Lock screen (marked as 2), as shown earlier.
In the Lock screen page, as shown below, you can also find the option to enable the Dynamic lock screen.
You can tap and hold (long tap) any blank area in the Galaxy Note 10 Home screen to enter the Home screen edit mode.
You can also use the pinch gesture on the home screen to enter the edit mode.
Once in the Home screen edit mode, you can tap the Wallpapers button, as shown above.
The button also brings you to the Galaxy themes.
In all recent Samsung Galaxy phones, you can add a shortcut of Galaxy Themes to the home screen.
You can then enter Galaxy Themes by simply tapping the icon on the Home screen or Apps screen.
After entering the dynamic lock screen page, as shown below, you can find that there are 5 curated sets (packs) of images for you to use on the lock screen:
You can download all of them. But you can use only one set at any time. Samsung does not allow you to mix two or more sets of images.
The images will be updated by Samsung about every two weeks.
When you are on the lock screen, you can swipe left to see all available images in that category.
You can also tap the Menu key (3 vertical dots) on the lock screen. You need to swipe to the left at least once to see the menu key, which is not available in the default lock screen.
As shown in the screenshot above, there are two options on the menu:
Please note, this is the only way to inspect all images in the pack/category.
In the Dynamic lock screen page, you can tap the menu key to customize this feature.
As shown below, from the menu, you can:
In the settings for Dynamic lock screen, you can customize this feature, including:
