Update: You can also get screen mirroring through Chromecast with Galaxy Note 3, if you have the Chromecast dongle. You may check the detailed guide on using Chromecast with Galaxy Note 3 here.

Use screen mirroring to connect Galaxy Note 3 to a large screen with an AllShare Cast dongle or HomeSync and then share your contents. You can also use this feature with other devices that support the Wi-Fi Miracast feature.

  • This feature may not be available depending on the region or service provider.
  • Miracast-enabled devices that do not support High-bandwidth Digital ContentĀ Protection (HDCP 2.X) may not be compatible with this feature.
  • Some files may be buffered during playback, depending on the network connection.
  • To save energy, deactivate this feature when not in use.
  • If you specify a Wi-Fi frequency, AllShare Cast dongles or HomeSync may not be discovered or connected.
  • If you play videos or games on a TV, select an appropriate TV mode to get the best experience.

On the Applications screen, tap Settings ā†’ Connections ā†’ Screen Mirroring. Select a device, open or play a file, and then control the display with the keys on your device.

To connect to a device using a PIN, tap and hold the device name to enter the PIN.

If your TV does not support Miracast, you may get the following gadgets to make screen mirroring work for your TV from your Galaxy Note 3.

Samsungā€™s own All-Share Cast Hub Adapter works nicely with your Galaxy Note 3. Screen mirroring for Galaxy Note 3 with this adapter should work directly out of box. No configurations needed. Your Galaxy Note 3 can immediately find the adapter. You just tap it to start to mirror the screen to the TV.

What you need is a TV with a HDMI port.

If you also have some non-Samsung smartphones or tablets at home, especially, Ā Amazon Kindle Fire HD Ā or HDX tabletd, you may want to get a more universal Miracast adapter for screen mirroring. Ā Such adapters work well for screen mirroring with Galaxy Note 3, and other smartphones, tablets and even laptops.

Netgear Push 2 TV HDMI Adpater is a good option for screen mirroring. Ā It works well with Samsung Galaxy Note 3, and other devices as well. It is even certified by Amazon for screen mirroring with Kindle Fire HDX 7, KIndle Fire Hdx 8.9 and the new Kindle Fire HD. Ā So, it is a good idea to get this adapter to enjoy screen mirroring. It works with most Android phones with Jelly Bean 4.2 or newer, because screen mirroring is natively supported in Jelly Bean 4.2.

The price is around $60. You only need a TV with a HDMI port to mirror Galaxy Note 3ā€™s screen to the TV. In the box, the USB power adapter is included, but HDMI cable is not. Galaxy Note 3 can find this adapter easily, and then you tap the device name to enjoy Galaxy Note 3 in your big screen.

  • I can watch Netflix on my note 3 as the signal on phone is h+ or 3g but as soon as i try miracast on my new 4k tv from my note 3 the signal drops to E and my note 3 turns off. Can anyone help ?. I tried ringing Vodaphone and they said the signal is strong where i live .

    • What do you mean "my note 3 turns off"?

The problem is the connection type, not signal strength. Maybe 3G network is overcrowded at that time. Can you actually watch Netflix on the phone for a few mins if your don't mirror the screen?

  • Thanks. The issue has gone away because Netflix is now legitimately available in my country.

  • I am trying to connect to a china projector via miracast. When I turn on screen mirroring, it gets connected, then a black screen comes and displays error " unable to enable screen mirroring, hdcp is not supported by the device connected.

Please help tried all possible ways.

I have wifi settings on my dlp projector ( sidar dlp projector, china) In wifi settings ssid = my router name, security = wpa2, PSK = my wifi password. Hope this is correct. Then I go to my note 8.0 and turn on screen mirroring.

    Hope above steps are correct.

Please help. I have some presentations to be done using this new dlp projector I got to carry with me always.

Hope I get some good solution, a permanent solution.

    • The projector very likely doesn't support HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection). However, Samsung devices require this for screen mirroring.

So, you probably have to try other devices.

    • Does the TV support Miracast? Screen mirroring requires Miracast.

BTW, screen mirroring does not require any internet connection.

  • Hello,
I'm stuck at "An update has been downloaded in your allshare cast dongle. Restart allshare cast dongle to install it." I've restarted my phone and switch on and off the dongle, but everytime I try connect to the dongle, that shows up.

    Thank you.

  • Hello,
If got some problems with HDCP. It can connect, but then it will shows a error that the HDCP is not supporting with the current device..

  • Everytime I try to connect to my Samsung dongle, it keeps telling me I need to restart screen mirroring to update

  • Thanks.Would that go ....gateway to another router by ether net, then use the wireless off the second router?

    • You can just connect the second router to the lan port of the existing router. Your mobile phone then choose the second wireless network. In the second router, you need specify uplink type as vpn with your vpn account. Any device connected to the second router will be effectively connected to the vpn.

Most consumer routers do NOT have this option. So, you may have to flash the firmware.

Also, some vpn account type may not work with the router. Check the firmware and your vpn account type. I use dd-wrt.

Anyway, it's not a trivial job. Some vpn providers may have other solutions.

  • I use an Allshare cast adapter to mirror my SM P905 to a dumb bigscreen. I would like to stream Netflix over the same link but have to use a VPN to get Netflix in my country. Is there a way?

    • The vpn implementation on android prevents the miracast connection some Jellybean 4.3.

You can try to set up another router at home. Make it connect to the vpn directly. You may need flash the firmware to dd-wrt. And it also depends on your vpn type.
