I have tested 3 Galaxy Notes and all have shown a bug with the S-Pen which is evident in S-Note when a mid-right postion of the screen does not respond to the stylus. I found the same issue on all three Galaxy Note.
The exact are of the screen was consistently the same and can be positioned as it corresponds to the space occupied by the nuber 3 on the phone keypad. My fingers work fine across the screen but the S-Pen stylus will not work only on this part of the screen.
This ruins the Galaxy Note for me as I cannot write notes if the middle portion is not responding to the pen. Very frustrated.
On Googling I found a Youtube video of another user with similar issues:
It could be caused by the S Pen. You can go to Samsung service center and they can reset the S Pen for you.
Thanks. I have tried at least two S-pen and on three separate Galaxy notes I have the same isue that the screen is intermittently (actually almost continual now) unresponsive to the S-pen where the number 3 digit appears on the phone pad. Same area also unresponsive in S-note. Any further ideas? I like the Galaxy Note but this is a show stopper for me.
If you have screen protector, you may remove it to try.
You can also try to re-calibrate the screen (Settings–Dsiplay–Gyroscope calibration , and horizontal calibration.
As it is really disturbing, you may visit local Samsung Service center for a check, or go to any shop to try their demo sets.
Al least, for mine, there is no such an issue.
I had the same problem, but I think I found the cause! my case had a rather strong magnet at the clip. It fell on the screen a lot at exactly that spot on the middle right hand side. It put it in a different case now, and so far it looks good…
